For a truly unique experience during your vacation in Vendée, plan a visit to the historic Vieux Château on the Ile d’Yeu. Start the day with a pleasant cruise, then take a bike ride to visit the historic site. Don’t miss the opportunity to reach the highest point for a magnificent panoramic view of the area. On the way back, you can watch a beautiful sunset together.
Château de Tiffauges can also be visited after a trip to Puy du Fau, for example. The Frébouchère dolmen is one of the monuments that will transport you back in time and impress you with its history.

If you’re looking for a great experience in the Vendée, discover the region’s maritime history by visiting the following sites. Some of the buildings are close to the coast, so after your visit you can enjoy the sea air or even have some fun on the beach.
Stop by Arundel Tower: although this ancient observation tower isn’t very high, it’s ideal for observing a breathtaking panorama of the harbour, the sea, the beach and the town. The Corniche Vendéenne is also a great place to take breathtaking souvenir photos.
You’ll also love Le Remblai, where you can walk along the beachfront. Built in the 18th century to prevent the sea from overflowing the city, this seafront promenade is also distinguished by the early 20th-century buildings that line it.

If you’re looking for a site that’s worth a visit, stop by the Moulin des Gourmands. Schedule your visit off-season to feel more at home in the smaller premises.
During your visit, you’ll learn all about the history of this monument, which is still in operation today. In Saint-Jean-de-Monts, visit the Ferris Wheel at the end of the day for a magnificent view of the surrounding area.
The département also boasts a number of religious buildings worth seeing, including the Prieuré Saint-Nicolas, the Abbaye de Maillezais with its Rabelais show, the Abbaye de Nieul-sur-l’Autise and the church of Saint-Philibert.
